Job purpose:

FMNI is the lead agency for the delivery of family mediation and the key training provider of Family Mediators in NI. FMNI is a registered charity providing a specialist family mediation service to separating and divorcing parents and others involved in Wider Family Disputes at venues throughout NI.

This is an opportunity for you to join a small team to contribute to improving the outcomes for children, young people and families who are going through a separation.

 

  • The role requires emotional resilience, empathy, initiative, flexibility, a mature approach and the ability to balance competing demands in a fast paced environment with a commitment to supporting Service Users, by responding to enquiries by parents, family members and professionals and providing access to those services.
  • Whilst extremely rewarding this post can be intense and demanding. It requires active listening to emotional issues on a daily basis together with excellent organisational skills.
  • To coordinate service delivery on a daily basis;
  • Providing access to services for separated parents and families, involving managing appointment calendar and venue booking.
  • Liaising with sessional mediators and allocating cases. This entails significant telephone and e-mail communication.
  • To welcome and attend to clients needs when they visit the main office.
  • To communicate and liaise with external professionals and other service providers, providing information on the service available.
  • Updating database in keeping with the organisations requirements, maintain records of activity and maintain case files.
  • To adhere to FMNI policies and procedures including those relating to safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Liaising with relevant staff and supporting volunteers when required.
  • Undertake any other duties and tasks to assist FMNI to achieve its objectives.

35 hours per week

Salary: NJC Point  21 £25801  (with employer pension)

Annual Leave: 25 days total – plus statutory holidays

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Five GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • Recognised Helplines training
  • RSA / OCR Stage II in Word
  • Processing or European Computer Driving Licence (or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Designated Child Protection Training
  • Third level qualification
  • Recognised Counselling Skills qualification
  • Mediation skills training
  • Advice Services training

QUALIFIACATIONS

  • Five GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • RSA / OCR Stage II in Word Processing or RQF Level 2 in ICT

EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years experience of working in a family support setting.

Including experience of communicating with Users by telephone and e-mail.

Experience of working in a confidential environment.   Administrative experience including diary/appointment management & statistical collation.

Experience of dealing with a multitude of tasks in a methodical way whilst prioritising work.
